What Makes This Recipe Special
Simple Cooking Tips
- Cook the mixture slowly over low heat to develop deep, rich flavors and avoid burning.
- Stir frequently to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking.
Directions
Tos the chopped apples, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, cloves, and a pinch of salt into your slow cooker. Let it cook on low for about 8 to 10 hours, or until the apples are really soft and easy to mash with a fork. Once that’s done, use an immersion blender to puree everything until it’s nice and smooth. Then, leave the slow cooker uncovered and let the mixture cook a bit longer—about an hour or so—until some of the liquid evaporates and the apple butter turns a rich, dark brown. Give it a taste and adjust the spices if you like, then let it cool before storing.
