What Makes This Recipe So Great
Best Cooking Tips
- Cook the bacon slowly over medium heat to get it crispy without burning.
- Drain cooked bacon on paper towels to remove excess grease before mixing with apples.
Directions
Build a campfire and let it burn down until you have a nice bed of hot coals. Push the coals to one side to create a cooler spot, or if you prefer, just preheat your outdoor grill. Place the apples in a loaf pan, then mix together brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Spoon that mixture into the center of each apple. Set the pan on the cooler side of the fire or directly on the grill and let it cook for about 3 minutes. Carefully take the pan off the heat, sprinkle crispy bacon pieces over the apples, and then pop the pan back onto the fire or grill for another 5 minutes or so, until everything is warmed through and the bacon is a little crispy.
