Why This Recipe Stands Out
Cooking Hints
- Brown the meat well for extra flavor before adding the cabbage and sauce.
- Let the dish simmer gently to allow the cabbage to soften and absorb the spices.
Directions
Lightly heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the ground beef with some salt and pepper, then cook it in the hot skillet, breaking it up and stirring occasionally, until itโs nicely brownedโthis should take about 5 minutes. Next, toss in the chopped onion and garlic and cook everything together until the onion becomes soft and translucent, around 2 to 3 minutes. Pour in the tomato sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce, stirring everything to combine well. Add the chopped cabbage on top, then lower the heat to let it all simmer gently. Cover the skillet and let it cook until the cabbage is tender, about 20 minutes. When itโs ready, serve the mixture over rice and add a dollop of sour cream if you like.
