Why This Dish Is So Special
Kitchen Tips
- Simmer the sauce gently to let the flavors meld without burning the sugars.
- Adjust the heat level by adding more or less chili to suit your taste.
Directions
Combin the guava, tomato sauce, tomato paste, water, and brown sugar in a large saucepan over low heat. Give everything a good stir until it’s well mixed. Next, add in the liquid smoke, fresh lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, habanero sauce, and molasses, stirring to blend all the flavors together. Sprinkle in the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper, then stir once more to distribute the seasonings evenly. Cover the pan and let the sauce simmer gently for about 30 minutes, stirring every now and then. You’ll know it’s ready when it thickens up nicely and all the flavors have melded together.
