Why This Recipe Is So Delicious
Kitchen Advice
- Cook bacon until crispy but not burnt to add the perfect crunch.
- Let the patties rest for a few minutes after cooking to keep them juicy.
Step 1
Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Turn it now and then until it’s evenly crispy, which should take about 5 minutes. Once done, drain the bacon on some paper towels and set it aside.
Step 2
Heat up your grill to medium, around 300 to 325 degrees Fahrenheit, and give the grate a light brush of oil so nothing sticks. While the grill’s heating, divide the ground beef into 1/4-pound portions. Mix the cooked bacon and chopped green onions together, then work this mixture into the beef evenly. Shape everything into patties.
Step 3
Sprinkle garlic salt and black pepper on both sides of the patties, then press a small well into the center of each one. Place the burgers on the grill and spoon about half a tablespoon of steak sauce into each indentation. Let them cook for about 5 minutes before flipping.
Step 4
After flipping, add another half tablespoon of steak sauce to each patty’s center. Quickly top with a slice of Cheddar cheese and close the grill lid. Keep cooking until the cheese melts and the burgers reach your preferred doneness—about 4 more minutes. They should read 160°F in the center if you’re using a thermometer.
Step 5
While the burgers finish up, pop the buns on the grill to toast lightly. Once everything’s ready, take the burgers and buns off the grill, then build your delicious sandwiches and enjoy!
