Cooking Hints
- Use a non-stick pan when sautΓ©ing to avoid sticking or burning.
- Add a little butter or oil to the pan for extra flavor and crispiness.
Step 1
Gently heat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). While thatβs warming up, cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat, turning it now and then until itβs nice and crispyβthis should take about 10 minutes.
Step 2
At the same time, bring a big pot of lightly salted water to a boil and cook the kluski noodles until theyβre almost tender, around 7 minutes. Drain them well.
Step 3
Once the bacon is done, transfer it to some paper towels to drain off the excess grease. Leave the drippings in the skillet and add the chopped onion. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the onion softens, about 5 minutes. Then toss in the cabbage, lower the heat, and let it simmer gently for 15 minutes.
Step 4
In a large bowl, mix together the noodles with the cottage cheese, Muenster cheese, dill, and a pinch of salt. Crumble in the bacon and add the cooked onion and cabbage, stirring everything until itβs well combined. Pour this mixture into a 3-quart baking dish.
Step 5
Using the empty skillet, melt the butter and stir in the bread crumbs until theyβre evenly coated. Sprinkle this crumb topping over the noodles, then dust with a little paprika for color.
Step 6
Pop the dish in the oven and bake it until the top turns golden and the filling is bubbly and hot, about 25 to 35 minutes. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
