Why This Dish Is Hard To Resist
Kitchen Tips
- Use a mix of your favorite nuts to add variety and extra flavor.
- Let the bars cool completely before cutting to prevent them from crumbling.
Step 1
Heat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch square baking dish. In a bowl, mix together the peanut butter and melted butter until smooth. Then add the brown sugar, honey, corn syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt—give it all a good stir. Next, blend in the applesauce until everything is well combined.
Step 2
In another bowl, toss the oats with the flour so they’re evenly coated. Stir in the peanuts and raisins, then pour your peanut butter mixture over the oat mixture. Mix everything together until the oats are fully covered. Press the mixture firmly into your prepared baking dish.
Step 3
Pop it in the oven for about 10 minutes. When the time’s up, sprinkle chocolate chips over the top and bake for another 5 minutes or so, just until the chocolate melts and the edges start to turn golden. Use the back of a spoon or a spatula to spread the melted chocolate evenly over the bars. Let everything cool completely before slicing into bars.
