Why This Recipe Works
Cooking Techniques
- Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes to prevent spreading.
- Bake until edges are golden but centers remain soft for a chewy texture.
Directions
Preheat your oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, cream together the shortening, sugar, and orange peel until everything is nicely combined and fluffy. Then, add in the milk and egg and mix well. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, pudding mix, and baking powder. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed just until everything comes together. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts by hand. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto an ungreased baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake for around 12 minutes, or until the cookies are set and lightly golden. Let them cool on the baking sheet for a couple of minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
