Why This Dish Is Hard To Resist
Cooking Techniques
- Use a broiler-safe dish to avoid any accidents in the oven.
- For extra crunch, sprinkle a little brown sugar or chopped nuts on top before broiling.
Directions
Gently heat up your oven’s broiler and move the rack so it’s about 6 inches from the heat. Carefully remove any seeds from the grapefruit, then use a sharp knife to loosen the sections from the membrane. Place the grapefruit halves cut side up in a baking dish. In a small bowl, mix together the oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Add the butter and use a fork to mash everything together until the oats are coated and crumbly. Spread about half of this buttery oat mixture over each grapefruit half. Pop the dish under the broiler and keep an eye on it until the topping turns golden brown and crunchy, which should take around 10 minutes. Let it cool for a minute or two before digging in!
