What Makes This Recipe So Good
Cooking Tips
- Cook the egg to your liking—poached, fried, or scrambled all work well.
- Toast the bread just until golden to add a nice crunch without overpowering the soft toppings.
Step 1
Toast your bread on the highest setting until it’s a nice, deep golden brown all over. While that’s happening, heat a small pan over medium heat and brush a little oil on it. Crack in the egg and sprinkle some sea salt, black pepper, and a pinch of red pepper flakes on top. Cover the pan and let it cook until the whites are set but the yolk is still runny—this usually takes about 3 minutes.
Step 2
Scoop the avocado onto your toast and spread it out evenly. Give it a good squeeze of fresh lemon juice, then season with a bit of salt, black pepper, and more red pepper flakes if you like a little extra kick. Carefully place the fried egg on top, pierce the yolk so it spreads over the avocado, and add another squeeze of lemon juice if you want. For the best bite, cut your avocado toast in half and enjoy!
