Why This Dish Is So Special
Quick Kitchen Tips
- Use a dark beer for a deeper, more robust taste.
- Let the chili simmer slowly to allow the spices and flavors to meld perfectly.
Step 1
Gently heat some olive oil in a big pot over medium heat. Add the turkey and cook it until itโs no longer pink, then sprinkle in the paprika, salt, and black pepper. Toss in the jalapenos, onion, garlic, celery, green pepper, and chipotle peppers. Keep stirring everything as you cook until the turkey breaks up into little pieces and the onions turn translucent, which should take about 15 minutes.
Step 2
Once the veggies and turkey are nicely cooked, add the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili beans, dark beer, Worcestershire sauce, chili seasoning, and a splash of liquid smoke. Give it a good stir to combine everything.
Step 3
Turn the heat down to low and let the chili simmer gently. Itโs best to let it cook for at least two hours, stirring now and then so nothing sticks to the bottom. This slow simmer really helps all the flavors come together.
