Why This Recipe Is So Tasty
Pro Kitchen Tips
- Use a slow cooker or bake slowly at a low temperature for deeper flavor.
- Stir occasionally to prevent beans from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
Directions
Heat your oven to 325Β°F (165Β°C). In a 9x13-inch baking dish, mix together the pork, beans, bacon, onion, green bell pepper, ketchup, and brown sugar until everything is well combined. Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and pop it in the oven. Let it bake for about 2 hours, giving it a good stir every half hour to keep things from sticking. After those two hours, take off the foil and keep it in the oven for another hour. During this last stretch, stir it every 15 minutes so the beans get nice and thick and develop that delicious caramelized flavor. Once itβs bubbly and golden, itβs ready to serve!
