Why This Recipe Is So Loved
Quick Kitchen Tips
- Use fresh ginger and cinnamon for the best flavor impact.
- Donโt overbake; take the cookies out when the edges are set but the centers are still soft for a chewy texture.
Step 1
Blend the flour, cinnamon, baking soda, salt, allspice, nutmeg, and cloves together in a medium bowl. In a larger bowl, whisk the brown sugar, stevia, molasses, applesauce, ginger, and egg until well combined. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ones until just mixed, then cover the dough and pop it in the fridge for at least an hour to chill.
Step 2
When youโre ready to bake, preheat the oven to 350ยฐF and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Scoop out the dough by the tablespoon, roll each portion into a ball, and place them on the sheet about an inch apart. Press down on each ball just a bit with your palm to slightly flatten them.
Step 3
Bake the cookies for 12 to 15 minutes, until theyโre puffed up and set. Let them cool completely before frosting. For the glaze, beat the cream cheese in a large bowl or mixer until smooth. Slowly add the butter while continuing to beat, then mix in the powdered sugar, stevia, and vanilla until everything is nicely combined.
Step 4
Once the cookies are cool, spread the cream cheese glaze on top using a small offset spatula or the back of a spoon. Enjoy!
