Helpful Kitchen Tips
- Let the sauce simmer slowly to develop a rich, balanced taste.
- Stir occasionally to prevent the sauce from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
Step 1
Cook the ground beef and chopped onion together in a large pot. Keep stirring until the beef is fully browned and no longer pink, which should take about 10 minutes. Once cooked, drain off any excess grease.
Step 2
Add the tomato sauce and tomato paste to the pot. Season everything with a bit of pepper, then stir in the tomato puree and ketchup. Now itβs time to add the brown sugar, mustard, celery salt, onion salt, and garlic saltβgive the sauce a good stir after adding each one so the flavors blend well.
Step 3
Turn the heat down to medium-low and let the sauce simmer gently. Keep stirring it every so often to prevent sticking and help the flavors come together. This should take about 30 to 45 minutes.
Step 4
In the last five minutes of cooking, sprinkle in some Parmesan cheese and stir it through. This will add a nice richness to your sauce. Once itβs ready, taste and adjust the seasoning if needed, then serve it up with your favorite pasta!
