Why This Recipe Is So Flavorful
Helpful Tips For Cooking
- Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes to prevent spreading during baking.
- Avoid overbaking to keep the cookies chewy and soft inside.
Step 1
Combine the oats, flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt together in a big bowl. In another bowl, whisk the honey, applesauce, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until everything is smooth. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ones and stir just until combined. Then fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts. Pop the dough in the fridge for at least 30 minutesβthis helps everything come togetherβand you can leave it in there for up to three days if you want.
Step 2
When youβre ready to bake, heat the oven to 350Β°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Take the dough out of the fridge, and if it feels really stiff, let it sit at room temp for 5 to 10 minutes. Scoop out the dough into roughly 1 1/2-inch balls and place them on your baking sheet, leaving about an inch between each. Gently press each ball down with your fingers to about 3/4-inch thick.
Step 3
Bake the cookies for 9 to 10 minutes until theyβre golden around the edges and set on top. Once done, let the baking sheet cool on a wire rack for a couple of minutes before moving the cookies over to cool completely. Enjoy!
