Kitchen Tricks
- Let the bake rest for a few minutes after cooking to set and make slicing easier.
- Add a sprinkle of herbs like thyme or parsley on top before baking for a fresh touch.
Step 1
Warm your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. Unroll one package of crescent roll dough onto the dish, pinching the seams together and gently stretching it to cover the bottom. Layer slices of Cheddar cheese over the dough, then add the ham, followed by the rest of the cheese slices.
Step 2
Unroll the second package of crescent roll dough on a clean surface, pinch the seams, and lay it over the cheese and ham layer. Press the edges together with a fork to seal everything in, then make a few shallow cuts on top so steam can escape while it bakes.
Step 3
Whisk together an egg and a little water, then brush this mixture over the top of the dough. Sprinkle some sesame seeds, salt, and pepper for extra flavor. Pop it in the oven and bake until the top turns golden brown, about 15 minutes. Let it cool slightly before slicing and serving.
