- Adjust the spice level by adding more or less chili powder or hot sauce.
- Stir the chowder occasionally in the slow cooker to prevent ingredients from sticking to the bottom.
Step 1
Tos the potatoes, chicken broth, cream-style corn, whole-kernel corn, half-and-half, butter, bell peppers, onion, and black pepper into your slow cooker. Set it to Low and let it wait for the rest.
Step 2
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sausage and cook it, breaking it up with a spoon until it’s nicely browned and crumbly—this usually takes about 5 to 7 minutes. Once it’s cooked, use a slotted spoon to transfer the sausage to a bowl, trying to leave as much of the fat behind in the pan as you can.
Step 3
Sprinkle the sausage with the flour and give it a good toss so it’s evenly coated. Then, stir the sausage into the slow cooker.
Step 4
Pop the lid on and let everything cook on Low for about 4 hours, stirring every now and then until the vegetables are nice and tender.
