Why This Recipe Is So Good
Kitchen Tricks
- Make sure the bacon is fully crisp before coating it with sugar.
- Chill the ice cream well before serving to keep it from melting too fast.
Step 1
Gently heat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lining a baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup. Pour some brown sugar into a shallow bowl, then press each slice of bacon into the sugar, making sure both sides are well coated. Arrange the bacon slices on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer. Pop them into the oven and bake for about 20 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the sugar has caramelized into a nice glaze. Once done, let the bacon cool completely before chopping it into small pieces.
Step 2
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the cream, milk, and maple syrup until everything is nicely blended. Stir in the chopped candied bacon. Pour this mixture into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions. You can enjoy the ice cream soft right away, or transfer it to a container with a lid and freeze it longer if you want it firmer.
