Heat your oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC) and either grease a 12-cup muffin tin or line it with paper liners. In a small bowl, mix the milk and lemon juice together and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it thickens a bit. Then, add the bran cereal to the milk mixture and let it soften for another 5 minutes.

In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and cloves. In another bowl, whisk the brown sugar, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ones and gently stir until just combined.

Now fold the softened bran mixture and raisins into the batter. Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups and pop them into the oven. Bake for 16 to 18 minutes, or until the tops are nicely browned and a toothpick comes out clean. Let them cool a bit before digging in!
