What Makes This Dish So Tasty
Kitchen Tips
- Donβt overmix the batter to keep the bread soft and tender.
- Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick in the center; it should come out clean or with a few crumbs.
Step 1
Warm your oven to 325Β°F (165Β°C) and greasing a loaf pan so the bread doesnβt stick. In a mixing bowl, cream together the brown sugar and butter with an electric mixer until itβs nice and smooth. Crack in the egg and beat it on medium-high until the mixture looks light and fluffy, which usually takes a minute or two. Mash up the bananas with a fork and add them to the bowl, mixing just until itβs mostly smoothβyou donβt have to worry about every little lump.
Step 2
In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Slowly fold these dry ingredients into the banana mixture until everything is just combined. Stir in the chocolate chips last, then pour the batter into your prepared pan.
Step 3
Pop the pan in the oven and bake for about an hour, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. When itβs done, let it cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before turning it out onto a wire rack to cool completely. This bread is especially delicious when itβs still a little warm!
