Why This Recipe Is So Easy To Love
Kitchen Tricks
- Let the bread soak for at least 30 seconds on each side for maximum flavor absorption.
- Cook on medium heat to ensure the toast is golden brown outside and fully cooked inside.
Directions
In a bowl, whisk together the half-and-half, egg whites, powdered sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, lemon extract, and a pinch of salt until everything is smooth and well combinedβthis should take about 30 seconds. Pour the mixture into a shallow dish so itβs easy to dip the bread. Take a slice of bread and soak it in the mixture, flipping it over to make sure both sides are nicely coated and almost soaked through. Melt a tablespoon of butter in a frying pan over medium heat until itβs hot and sizzling. Place the soaked bread in the pan and cook for about a minute and a half on each side, until itβs golden brown and the edges turn a little crispy. If youβre making more, keep dipping and frying in batches, adding more butter to the pan as needed. Serve warm with maple syrup and a dollop of whipped cream on top for a sweet finish.
