Why This Recipe Is So Enjoyable
Cooking Tips You Should Know
- Cook over medium heat to avoid burning the sugar or spices.
- Stir frequently to ensure even cooking and prevent sticking.
Step 1
Gently heat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Rinse the sauerkraut and turnip greens lightly in a colander, then let them drain well. In a large baking dish, spread out the sauerkraut, turnip greens, and chopped onions in an even layer. Sprinkle with some salt and pepper to taste.
Step 2
In a small bowl, mix together the apple juice concentrate, water, and brown sugar until the sugar dissolves. Pour this sweet mixture over the veggies in the dish. Next, tuck the kielbasa pieces right on top.
Step 3
Pop the dish into the oven and bake for about two hours. Every 20 minutes or so, give everything a good stir to help the flavors blend and to make sure the kielbasa browns nicely. You'll know it’s ready when most of the liquid has cooked off and the sausage has a nice, golden color.
