Why This Dish Is So Satisfying
Chef's Cooking Tips
- Avoid lifting the slow cooker lid too often; it lets heat escape and can increase cooking time.
- If the broth seems too thick at the end, stir in a little chicken broth or water to reach your preferred consistency.
Step 1
Combin the chicken broth, chicken, potatoes, carrots, and broccoli in your slow cooker. In a small bowl, whisk together the water and quick-mixing flour until it forms a smooth, paste-like mixture, then stir this into the slow cooker. Season everything with a bit of salt and pepper. Cover and cook on low for about 5 hours.
Step 2
After that, mix the baking mix and milk in a bowl until it’s well combined. Drop spoonfuls of this batter on top of the chicken mixture in the slow cooker. Let it cook for another hour, gently turning the dumplings halfway through, until they’re fully cooked and fluffy. Serve and enjoy!
