Helpful Kitchen Tips
- Chill the dough well before shaping to make rolling easier.
- Make sure to use heat-safe chocolate for coating to get a nice, shiny finish.
Step 1
Cream together the butter and brown sugar in a large bowl until everything is smooth and well combined. Then stir in the vanilla extract. Next, add the flour and sweetened condensed milk a little at a time, alternating between the two and mixing well after each addition. Once that’s all mixed, gently fold in the chocolate chips and toffee bits, just enough to spread them through the dough.
Step 2
Use a small cookie scoop or spoon to roll the dough into 1-inch balls, then set them on a baking sheet lined with wax paper. Pop the tray in the fridge and let the dough chill until firm, which should take about an hour.
Step 3
While you wait, melt the chocolate coating in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat it in 30-second bursts, stirring in between, until it’s smooth and melted—this usually takes 1 to 3 minutes depending on your microwave. Be careful not to overheat it or it might burn.
Step 4
Once the dough balls are firm, dip each one into the melted chocolate, letting any extra drip off before placing them back on the wax paper-lined tray. Sprinkle a few more toffee bits on top for a little extra crunch. Finally, put them back in the fridge until the chocolate sets, about 15 minutes. Keep these truffles chilled until you’re ready to enjoy!
