Cooking Tips You Should Know
- Cook grains thoroughly but avoid overcooking to keep them fluffy.
- Season each component lightly to build layers of flavor without overpowering the dish.
Step 1
Put the potatoes in a big pot and covering them with salted water. Bring it to a boil, then lower the heat and let them simmer until theyโre really tender, about 20 minutes. Drain the water once theyโre soft.
Step 2
Transfer the potatoes to a large bowl, then add the milk, butter, and garlic. Use an electric mixer to whip everything together until the potatoes are smooth and creamy. Spoon the mashed potatoes into your bowls.
Step 3
Heat some olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Toss in the sausage and cook it just until itโs heated through, which should take about 2 to 3 minutes. Add the chopped asparagus, corn, and broccoli florets, then pour in the broth. Cover the skillet and let everything simmer, stirring now and then, until the veggies are nearly tenderโthis usually takes around 5 minutes.
Step 4
Scoop about a cup of the broth from the skillet into a small bowl. Whisk in the flour until itโs smooth, then pour the mixture back into the skillet. Stir everything together and cook for another 5 minutes or so until the sauce thickens up nicely.
Step 5
Finally, spoon the sausage and veggie mixture along with the gravy over the mashed potatoes. Finish it off with a bit of black pepper, and youโre ready to dig in!
