Why This Recipe Is So Good
Cooking Tips
- Toast the oats lightly before mixing to add a deeper, nuttier flavor.
- Make sure the dough is well chilled before shaping to prevent spreading during baking.
Step 1
Heat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking pan. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt. Add the butter and stir it in until everything is evenly combined. Press this mixture firmly into the bottom of your prepared pan to form the crust.
Step 2
Pop the crust into the oven and bake for about 10 minutes, until itโs set and just starting to turn golden. While itโs still warm, sprinkle the toffee pieces over the top and gently spread them out with a spatula as they begin to melt.
Step 3
Melt the caramels in a saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring often until smooth. Stir in the heavy cream to make a nice caramel sauce, then pour it over the toffee layer. Scatter the pecans evenly on top.
Step 4
Return the pan to the oven and bake for another 15 minutes, until the edges are golden and bubbly. Let it cool for 15 to 20 minutes so it sets up before cutting into bars. Enjoy!
