What Makes This Recipe So Great
Tips For Better Flavor
- Make sure to knead the dough well but avoid overworking it to keep the cookies tender.
- Let the cookies cool completely before storing to maintain their texture.
Step 1
Gently heat your oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C). Mix the thawed orange juice concentrate with some water to dilute it. Next, cut the butter into the flour until it looks like coarse crumbs. Then, add in the walnuts, sugar, raisins, the orange juice mixture, orange zest, and a pinch of salt. Use your hands to mix everything together, adding a bit more flour if the dough feels too sticky.
Step 2
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and roll it into a square shape. Cut it into diamond shapes or squaresβwhichever you preferβand place them on ungreased baking sheets. Bake the cookies in batches for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until the edges start to turn golden. Let them cool on a rack for another 15 to 20 minutes.
Step 3
While the cookies are cooling, stir together powdered sugar and a little milk to make a simple frosting. Spread this over the cookies and sprinkle with your favorite decorations. Enjoy!
