Why This Recipe Is A Must Try

These bars are a perfect blend of sweet and salty, making them a great pick-me-up anytime. They provide a quick boost of energy thanks to the peanut butter and oats. Plus, they are easy to make and customizable to your taste.

Cooking Tips

- Use natural peanut butter without added sugar for a healthier option.
- Press the mixture firmly into the pan to help the bars hold together.
- Chill the bars before cutting to get clean, neat pieces.

Step 1

Lin a 9x13-inch baking dish with parchment paper and giving it a quick spray with cooking spray. Spread the chocolate evenly over the bottom of the dish. Next, toast the oats, wheat germ, and flax seeds in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Keep stirring them often until the oats turn a light golden color and smell toasty, which should take about 5 minutes. Once toasted, transfer the oat mixture to a large bowl and add the crispy rice cereal, crushed cornflakes, almonds, and a pinch of salt.

Step 2

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the honey, peanut butter, brown sugar, agave nectar, canola oil, and cinnamon. Stir everything together and cook until it starts to bubble, around 3 to 5 minutes. Take the pan off the heat and mix in the vanilla extract. Pour this warm peanut butter mixture over the cereal mix and gently stir until it’s all well combined.

Step 3

Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Place another piece of parchment paper on top and press down firmly to spread the mixture evenly. Let it cool completely before lifting it out of the dish and cutting into bars.

Serving Inspiration

Enjoy these bars as a quick breakfast on the go or a midday snack. They pair well with a glass of milk or a cup of tea. You can also add fresh fruit on the side for extra flavor and nutrition.

Proper Storage Tips

Store the bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, keep them in the fridge where they will last about two weeks. You can also freeze them individually wrapped for up to three months.
