Why This Recipe Is So Good
Helpful Chef Tips
- Use a mix of cheeses for richer flavor and better melting texture.
- Let the casserole rest for a few minutes after baking to help it set before serving.
Step 1
Butter an 8x8-inch casserole dish. Then, use the rest of the butter to lightly spread on the bread slices and cut each one diagonally in half. Place half of the bread pieces in the bottom of the dish, then sprinkle on half of the Swiss cheese, green onions, parsley, and shrimp. Layer the remaining bread on top and add the rest of the cheese, onions, parsley, and shrimp.
Step 2
In a bowl, whisk together the milk, sour cream, eggs, Dijon mustard, and a pinch of salt until smooth. Pour this mixture evenly over the casserole. Cover it and pop it in the fridge for at least 8 hours or overnight to let everything soak in.
Step 3
When youβre ready to bake, preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Bake the casserole for about 30 to 40 minutes, until itβs puffed up and golden brown on top. Let it rest for about 5 minutes before cutting into squares and serving.
