Why This Recipe Is A Must Try
Tips To Improve This Recipe
- Cook onions slowly over low heat to bring out their natural sweetness without burning.
- Add a splash of vinegar or lemon juice at the end to brighten the flavors.
Directions
Heat some olive oil in a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onions and cook them, stirring occasionally, until they start to turn a nice golden brown. Sprinkle in the brown sugar and keep cooking for a few more minutes so the onions get nicely caramelized. Once the onions are soft and sweet, toss in the chard and olives, stirring until the chard just begins to wilt. Add the capers and a pinch of salt, then cook everything together for about 3 minutes until the chard is fully wilted. Finish with a good grind of black pepper and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice to brighten it all up.
