Simple Cooking Tips
- Fry in hot oil to get a crispy exterior without absorbing too much fat.
- Donβt overcrowd the pan when frying to maintain the oil temperature.
Step 1
Grind up the ham and putting it into a large bowl. In a separate small bowl, beat three eggs until smooth. Melt the butter in a small skillet over medium heat, then add the garlic and dried onion. Cook, stirring occasionally, until everything turns a nice golden brownβabout five minutes. Pour this flavorful mixture into the bowl with the ham. Add the beaten eggs, one cup of bread crumbs, the Cheddar cheese, brown sugar, and black pepper. Mix everything together with your hands until itβs well combined. Shape the mixture into 15 to 18 medium-sized croquettes, forming them into little rectangular shapes.
Step 2
Now, beat the remaining egg with a tablespoon of water in a bowl. Spread the other two cups of bread crumbs on a large plate or shallow dish. Dip each croquette into the egg wash, then roll it around in the bread crumbs until fully coated.
Step 3
Heat some olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the croquettes in batches, turning them occasionally, until theyβre golden brown all overβthis should take around 10 minutes total. Once cooked, transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to soak up any extra oil. Enjoy!
