Step 1
Heat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). In a small saucepan, combine the caramels and half-and-half, then warm them over low heat. Stir gently until the caramels have completely melted and you have a smooth sauce, which should take about 5 minutes.

In a mixing bowl, beat together the butter and brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy. Then, add the egg and a pinch of salt, beating until everything is well combined. Pour in the warm caramel sauce and mix it in.

Gradually add the flour, mixing just until the dough comes together. Spoon the dough into a cookie press and carefully press it out onto baking sheets, leaving about 1 to 2 inches between each cookie.
