Why This Recipe Is So Flavorful
Better Cooking Tips
- Make sure to drain excess grease before mixing bacon into the batter to avoid sogginess.
- Let the cake cool slightly before slicing to keep it from falling apart.
Step 1
Heat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan. Next, cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat, turning it every now and then until itβs lightly browned but still a bit soft, which should take about 7 minutes. Once cooked, drain the bacon on paper towels to soak up the extra grease.
Step 2
Lay the bacon strips in the bottom of your greased pan, overlapping them if needed to cover the surface, then sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the bacon. In a big bowl, mix together your cake batter, maple extract, and maple syrup until everything is well combined. Pour this mixture over the bacon and sugar in the pan.
Step 3
Pop the pan into the oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool for a bit, then carefully flip it out onto a serving plate. Slice into wedges and enjoy!
