Why This Recipe Is So Flavorful
Cooking Secrets
- Measure flour carefully to keep the bread light and tender.
- Check doneness by inserting a toothpick; it should come out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
Directions
Gently heat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and generously grease two large loaf pans. Since the long pear slices can stick and make the bread fall apart, donβt be shy with the grease. In a big mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, vegetable oil, molasses, and eggs, stirring until everythingβs well blended. Add the salt, baking soda, and spicesβcinnamon, cloves, ginger, and allspiceβand mix those in. Gently fold in the pear slices, making sure theyβre well coated with the batter. Then, stir in the flour until just combined. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and pop them in the oven. Bake for about 50 to 65 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the loaves cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
