- Chill the cheese ball well before serving to help it hold its shape.
- Add a bit of lemon juice or zest to brighten the flavors and complement the shrimp.
Step 1
Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Once it’s melted, add the garlic, onion, Cajun seasoning, cayenne, and red pepper flakes. Cook everything together, stirring now and then, until the onion softens and becomes translucent, which should take about 5 minutes. Toss in the shrimp and cook until they turn bright pink and are opaque all the way through, around another 5 minutes. Drain off any extra grease and set the shrimp mixture aside to cool.
Step 2
In a big bowl, mix the cream cheese with the liquid smoke and lemon juice until smooth. Fold in the cooked shrimp along with half of the pecans, stirring until everything is combined. Shape the mixture into a ball, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap, and pop it in the fridge for about 30 minutes to firm up a bit.
Step 3
While the cheese ball chills, mix the chopped parsley with the remaining pecans in a small bowl. When the cheese ball is set, roll it in the parsley and pecan mixture until it’s fully coated. Wrap it back up and refrigerate for at least a couple of hours so it gets nice and firm before serving.
