Chef's Cooking Tips
- Stir frequently to keep the sauce smooth and prevent sticking.
- If the sauce gets too thick, add a splash of water to loosen it up.
Directions
Combin the pineapple chunks, pineapple juice, grape jelly, tomato paste, brown sugar, vinegar, cornstarch, Worcestershire sauce, hot pepper sauce, liquid smoke, and a pinch of salt in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Keep stirring as the mixture heats up, and let it simmer gently until the grape jelly has completely melted, which should take about 5 minutes. Once the sauce is smooth, add the smoked sausages to the pan. Lower the heat so the sauce is just barely simmering, and let the sausages cook in the sauce for around 30 minutes. This slow cooking will thicken the sauce and let all the flavors meld together beautifully. Give everything an occasional stir to make sure nothing sticks to the bottom. When the sauce is nice and thick, and the sausages are heated through, itโs ready to serve.
