Practical Cooking Tips
- Pierce the potatoes with a fork before baking to prevent steam buildup.
- Add toppings after baking to keep textures fresh and vibrant.
Step 1
Gently heat your oven to 350ยฐF. While itโs warming up, poke a few holes in each potato with a fork, then pop them onto a baking sheet. Let them bake for about an hour and a half, or until theyโre nice and tender.
Step 2
While the potatoes are roasting, heat a skillet over medium heat. Toss in the ground beef along with chopped onion, minced garlic, and your spicesโsalt, chili powder, cumin, and a pinch of red pepper flakes. Cook everything together, breaking up the meat, until itโs fully browned, which should take around 10 minutes. If it starts sticking, splash in a little water to keep things moving. Once cooked, drain off any grease.
Step 3
When the potatoes are done, slice them open and spread a little butter inside. Then, pile on the seasoned beef, sprinkle with cheese, and add a dollop each of sour cream and salsa. Serve warm and enjoy!
