Tips For Better Flavor
- Avoid lifting the slow cooker lid too often; it lets the heat escape and can increase cooking time.
- If the sauce is too thin after cooking, remove the pork and simmer the sauce on high to thicken before serving.
Step 1
Gently heat some oil in a skillet over medium heat. Toss in the chopped onion and cook it until itโs nice and soft, about 5 minutes. Then add the garlic, chili powder, and pepper, stirring everything together until the garlic becomes fragrant and soft, which should take around 3 to 4 minutes. Next, pour in the steak sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and a bit of liquid smoke. Give it a good stir and let the sauce come to a gentle boil.
Step 2
Place the pork tenderloin in your slow cooker and pour the sauce right over it. Cover and cook until the pork is tender enough to shred easily with a forkโthis usually takes about 5 to 6 hours on High or 10 to 12 hours on Low.
Step 3
Once itโs done, transfer the pork to a plate and shred it using two forks. Then, mix the shredded meat back into the sauce in the slow cooker so it soaks up all those flavors until youโre ready to serve.
