Why This Meal Is A Winner

This sauce is packed with rich, smoky flavors that perfectly complement the natural taste of ribs. Its balance of sweet, tangy, and savory notes makes every bite irresistible. Plus, it’s easy to make and adds a homemade touch to any meal.

Kitchen Advice

- Simmer the sauce slowly to let the flavors blend well.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as it cooks to get the perfect balance.
- Use fresh ingredients whenever possible for the best flavor.

Directions

Warm some olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the chopped poblano pepper and onion, and cook them together for about 6 to 8 minutes, stirring now and then, until the onion becomes soft and translucent. Next, stir in the honey, molasses, brown sugar, tomato paste, vinegar, Marsala wine, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, cumin, oregano, smoke flavoring, salt, and pepper. Whisk everything well until the sauce is smooth and combined. Turn the heat up just enough to bring the sauce to a gentle boil, then lower it to a simmer. Let it cook uncovered for about 35 minutes, stirring occasionally so it doesn’t stick, until the sauce thickens nicely. Once done, let it cool a bit before storing it in the fridge. It’ll keep well and taste even better the next day!

Serving Suggestions

This sauce goes great with grilled or smoked ribs, but it also works wonderfully as a dip for chicken wings or a topping for pulled pork sandwiches. Add a side of coleslaw or corn on the cob for a classic barbecue meal.

Storage Guide

Store any leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. Reheat gently on the stove or in the microwave before serving. You can also freeze the sauce for up to three months in a freezer-safe container.
