Quick Kitchen Tips
- Avoid pressing down on the patties while cooking to retain moisture.
- Let the burgers rest for a few minutes after cooking to lock in the flavors.
Step 1
Make the guacamole: cut the avocados in half lengthwise, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a bowl. Add the lime juice, chili powder, salsa, and salt, then mash everything together with a fork until it’s nicely chunky. If you want to prepare this ahead of time, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole to keep it from browning, and pop it in the fridge.
Step 2
Mix the garlic, salt, pepper, cumin, and paprika in a small bowl. Brush both sides of each turkey patty with olive oil, then sprinkle the seasoning blend all over.
Step 3
Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat and cook the patties, covered, for about 5 to 6 minutes per side, until they’re cooked through with no pink inside. If you’re adding cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute so it melts nicely.
Step 4
While the burgers are cooking, brush the buns with melted butter and toast them in another pan over medium-high heat for about 15 seconds on each side, just until they’re golden and a little crispy.
Step 5
To assemble, put the cooked patties on the bottom buns, spoon on some guacamole, and add any other toppings you like. Serve with a side of salsa for dipping if you want.
