Tips To Improve This Recipe
- Avoid overmixing the meat mixture to keep the meatballs tender.
- Brown the meatballs in a hot pan before simmering in sauce for added texture and taste.
Step 1
Start by finely chopping the parsley, onion, garlic, and red pepper paste togetherβusing a food processor works great for this, but you can also do it by hand if you prefer. Once everything is nicely blended, transfer it to a big mixing bowl. Add the ground turkey along with the basil, thyme, cumin, cinnamon, allspice, salt, and pepper. Mix everything thoroughly until well combined. Then, shape the mixture into meatballs that are all about the same size.
Step 2
Heat some oil in a large pan over medium-low heat. Carefully add the meatballs in batches so they have room to brown evenly. Cook them for about 2 to 3 minutes on each side until theyβre nicely browned all around. Once done, set the meatballs aside on a plate.
Step 3
In the same pan, pour in 4 cups of water, your spaghetti sauce, diced tomatoes, and tomato paste. Give it a good stir to combine everything. If the sauce feels too thick, add a little more water to loosen it up.
Step 4
Gently add the browned meatballs back into the sauce. Let everything simmer together over medium-low heat for about an hour so the flavors can really come together and the meatballs cook through. Stir occasionally and enjoy the wonderful aroma filling your kitchen!
