Cooking Techniques
- Donβt overcook the salmon to keep it tender and moist.
- Let the fish rest for a few minutes after cooking to lock in juices.
Step 1
Place the salmon fillets in a bowl. In another bowl, mix together the soy sauce, lemon juice, half of the chopped onion, the onion slices, chopped garlic, and some black pepper. Pour this marinade over the salmon, then add the rest of the chopped onion, minced garlic, and a bit of garlic-pepper seasoning. Cover the bowl and pop it in the fridge to marinate for 12 to 15 hours, flipping the fish halfway through so it soaks up all the flavors evenly.
Step 2
When youβre ready to cook, preheat your grill to high heat and give the grate a light oiling to prevent sticking. Place the salmon directly on the grill or on cedar planks, then pile the marinated onion slices on top. Let it cook until the fish gets a nice golden color, about 8 to 10 minutes. After that, lower the heat to medium-low and keep cooking for another 3 to 5 minutes, until the salmon flakes easily with a fork. Enjoy!
