Why You'll Love Making This

These bars combine the wholesome texture of oats with rich fudge and crunchy nuts, creating a perfect balance of flavors and textures. They make a great snack or dessert that feels both indulgent and satisfying.

Practical Cooking Tips

- Use old-fashioned oats for a chewier texture.
- Toast the nuts lightly before adding for extra flavor.
- Press the mixture firmly into the pan to help the bars hold together well.

Step 1

Warm your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until the mixture is nice and smooth. Then, beat in the eggs along with 2 teaspoons of vanilla and half a teaspoon of almond extract until everything is well combined.

Step 2

In a separate bowl, mix the oats, flour, sliced almonds, baking soda, and a teaspoon of salt. Add this dry mix to the wet ingredients and stir just until everything comes together—you don’t want to overmix. Spread about two-thirds of this oat batter evenly in a 10x15-inch baking pan with sides.

Step 3

Melt the chocolate chips, condensed milk, 2 tablespoons of butter, and half a teaspoon of salt in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth, which should take around five minutes. Take it off the heat, then stir in the remaining 2 teaspoons of vanilla and half a teaspoon of almond extract.

Step 4

Pour the chocolate mixture over the oat layer in the pan, spreading it out evenly. Then dollop the rest of the oat batter on top in spoonfuls and gently spread it over the fudge layer.

Step 5

Pop the pan in the oven and bake for about 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the bars cool before cutting so they hold together nicely.

Serving Combinations

Enjoy these bars on their own with a glass of milk or pair them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a special treat. They also go well with fresh fruit or a cup of coffee.

How To Store This Recipe

Store the bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer freshness, keep them in the refrigerator or freeze them wrapped tightly to maintain texture and flavor.

Loved the taste but a bit sticky to handle after baking. Next time I’ll chill them longer before cutting.

I made these last weekend, and they were moist and tasty. Next time I might add a bit more nuts for crunch.
