Why This Recipe Is So Easy To Love

Full of rich flavors and comforting textures. It’s easy to make and perfect for any meal. The blend of spices adds warmth without being too spicy, making it a family favorite.

Pro Cooking Tips

- Soak the beans overnight to reduce cooking time and improve digestibility.
- Stir occasionally to prevent the beans from sticking to the pot.
- Taste and adjust seasoning towards the end to balance flavors perfectly.

Step 1

Heat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a Dutch oven—or a large pot or saucepan if you don’t have one—cook the beef, bacon, and onion over medium heat. Keep stirring until the beef is nicely browned and broken up into small pieces. Once it’s cooked through, drain off any excess grease.

Step 2

Add the baked beans, kidney beans, and Great Northern beans to the pot. In a separate bowl, mix together the ketchup, brown sugar, salt, mustard powder, vinegar, and molasses. Pour this sauce into the beans and stir everything until it’s well combined.

Step 3

If you’re not using a Dutch oven, transfer the mixture to a casserole dish. Pop it in the oven and let it bake for about an hour and a half, until everything is bubbly and nicely melded together. Let it cool a bit before serving and enjoy!

Serving Style Ideas

Serve with a side of steamed rice or warm crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce. A fresh green salad or pickled vegetables make great accompaniments to add brightness to the meal.

Freezing Tips

Allow the beans to cool completely before transferring to an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat gently on the stove or in the microwave until warmed through.
