Why This Recipe Is A Favorite

This recipe offers a healthier twist on a classic favorite. It uses wholesome ingredients to keep the bread moist and flavorful without extra fat or sugar. It’s perfect for those who want a tasty treat without the guilt.

Tips For Better Flavor

- Use ripe bananas for the best natural sweetness and moisture.
- Avoid overmixing the batter to keep the bread light and tender.
- Check doneness with a toothpick inserted in the center; it should come out clean or with a few crumbs.

Directions

Lightly heat your oven to 325°F (165°C) and greasing two 4x8-inch loaf pans. In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg. In a larger bowl, mash the bananas and then stir in the eggs, applesauce, brown sugar, flaxseed meal, milk, and vanilla until everything is well combined. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet, stirring just until the batter looks smooth. Toss in the walnuts and gently fold them through. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and pop them in the oven. Bake for about 45 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Once done, take the loaves out and let them cool in the pans for 15 minutes before turning them out onto a wire rack or plate to cool a little more—around 5 minutes—before slicing.

Perfect Pairings

Enjoy warm slices plain or spread with a thin layer of nut butter or yogurt. It also pairs well with a cup of tea or coffee for a cozy snack or breakfast.

Storing This Dish

Store the bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. For longer freshness, freeze slices individually wrapped and thaw as needed.

Nice flavor but a bit drier than I hoped. Will try adding yogurt next time to keep it moist.

Really smooth texture without being too dense. I skipped the nuts and it still turned out lovely. Will bake again.
